Seegrid; second computing

SEEGRID Corporation is a robotics company founded in 2003 by Hans Moravec and Scott Friedman. It is reported to be developing a technology that allows robots to visualize their surroundings in three dimensions. SEEGRID (also SEE-GRID) also stands for South Eastern European GRid-enabled eInfrastructure Development, a project to support and develop grid computing in Southeastern Europe, allowing countries there to participate in Pan-European and worldwide grid computing initiatives. SEEGrid also stands for Solid Earth and Environment Grid, a collaborative community of scientists, government agencies and commercial users in the earth and environmental sciences that use web-enabled grid computing technology to publish and process geographic information with a focus on sustainable management of natural resources.
